If Jim Harbaugh decides to leave the Michigan Wolverines’ football program, he’ll be one of the most sough-after head coaches in NFL history.
Harbaugh could be one of the two marquee free agent head coaches in the coming months, along with New England Patriots icon Bill Belichick. And if Harbaugh does leave Michigan, there are reportedly two NFL teams who interest him.
According to a report from Mike Jones of The Athletic, the Las Vegas Raiders and Chicago Bears “appeal to” the 59-year-old. Harbaugh’s NFL career began with the Bears back in 1987, and he played there until 1993.
“Harbaugh is among those expected to receive consideration in the next hiring cycle, according to a league source who has been briefed on discussions high-ranking NFL officials have had about potential head coach candidates. And two other league sources who regularly talk with teams about hiring and firing decisions said at least two teams — the Chicago Bears and Las Vegas Raiders — are believed to be among those that would appeal to Harbaugh. The individuals spoke on condition of anonymity to talk freely about the situation.”
The Raiders fired head coach Josh McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler following a Week 8 Monday night loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Linebackers coach Antonio Pierce was promoted to interim HC and has won both his games, and there’s a good possibility that he’ll end up retaining the position if the Raiders continue this improved pay.
Eberflus, on the other hand, appears to be on the hot seat in the Windy City. The Bears went 3-14 in year one under his watch a year ago and are just 3-7 entering Sunday’s Week 11 contest against the Detroit Lions.
