Bad teammates are found at every level of sports. From the professional stage on the football field down to the pee wee leagues across America. Of course, when getting paid millions of dollars many people just expect players to always have each other’s backs but that’s not always the case.
Tempers often flare between teammates, or certain players are left consistently letting their team down. That’s why for this list we are going over the 10 worst teammates in the NFL that everyone keeps hush-hush about.
Kadarius Toney
When Toney was traded to the Chiefs from the Giants there was a lot of hope that it would turn his career around, but unfortunately, it’s been the opposite and it’s mostly been his doing. His time in Kansas City has been flooded with only negative headlines and they seem to be catching up to him.
Most recently he went on Instagram live just before the Super Bowl and talked about how the Chiefs are lying about him having an injury. Of course, it’s more of a shot at the front office but nobody wants their teammate making these kinds of accusations days before the biggest game of their lives.
George Pickens
George Picken has as much talent as some of the top receivers in the league but talent can only get someone so far. Hard work is a major factor that makes so many players great and Picken shows very little.

He went viral in the Steelers’ matchup against the Colts last year when he seemingly refused to block in front of running back Jaylen Warren in what could have been a touchdown if not for Picken’s lack of hustle.
Jaire Alexander
Alexander was already having a down year last season, marked by a series of injuries but when he finally returned in the Packers matchup against the Carolina Panthers he earned himself a one-game suspension for declaring himself a captain and going out for the coin toss.
Getting a suspension because you felt like it was your right to be out on the field and a captain is downright selfish and not the trademark move of an amazing teammate. Luckily all would be resolved in the following weeks but still not a good look.
Chase Claypool
Claypool is just another case of someone with all the right tools to be a great player but shows a serious lack of effort. It became obvious during his stint with the Chicago Bears after they traded a second-round pick for him. Things got so bad between Claypool and the Bears that the team shipped him and a seventh-round pick off to the Miami Dolphins for just a sixth-rounder.
Mecole Hardman
It’s become obvious that Hardman did not like his time with the New York Jets and he hasn’t held back from letting everyone know. He went on to criticize the franchise as a whole and players on the Jets did not sit idly by. After his comments, Hardman was called out for never earning himself a spot on the team and possibly even giving the Philadelphia Eagles the Jets game plan before their matchup.
Zack Wilson
Wilson has certainly matured since he was thrown to the wolves last season but his first two years in the league were stained with poor performances and selfishness. His worst moment came after the Jets lost 10-3 against the Patriots. When asked by Connor Hughes of SportsNet New York whether or not he felt like he let his defense down, Wilson responded “No.”
In any game where the defense allows just 10 points and they don’t win, the offense loses the game.
Stefon Diggs
At the end of every NFL season, you can always be sure of two things. The Bills will still be searching for their franchise quarterback and Stefon Diggs will be involved in some sort of drama. If the Bills don’t win the Super Bowl then Diggs is automatically contemplating his future with the team even though he’s become a superstar with them.
Ryan Tannehill
When the Titans drafted Malik Willis, Tannehill saw this as a threat to his starting job. He took the Brett Favre approach and decided he would not be some sort of mentor to Willis as it could mean the end of his spot with the team.
Now Tannehill isn’t some sort of generational talent and it couldn’t have been much of a surprise that the team could look for an upgrade at the position. Not a very good look.
Mac Jones
Mac Jones seems to be headed out the door in New England very soon and that’s something a few Patriots players will feel very relieved by. Jones was never someone who took much blame for poor performances and more deflected it.
According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, backup quarterback Bailey Zappe even started watching film in the wide receiver’s room because the quarterback room was so toxic.
Aaron Rodgers
Though Rodgers won two MVPs in his final few years in Green Bay, they were headlined by heavy doses of unwanted drama. The team and teammates never really knew if he was staying or leaving and it seems to have created some friction. It was always a distraction that loomed large and certainly not one many teammates loved having to keep up with.
