The quarterback is undoubtedly the most important position on any NFL team. There’s a reason that 47 out of 68 total winners of the MVP trophy have been quarterbacks. With that being said there are some teams that consistently find talent at the position.
Whether it’s through the draft, trades or free agency they always seem to find their guy. That’s why for this list we are going over 10 NFL Teams That Have ALWAYS Had A Good Quarterback.
Green Bay Packers
This list is not compiled in order but if it were the Packers would obviously be number one. Between Bart Starr, Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers they arguably have three top 10 QBs of all time and now Jordan Love looks like he’s becoming a superstar.
Whatever they do in Green Bay needs to be studied because it’s a miracle they can consistently find amazing players at the position.
Los Angeles Chargers
Justin Herbert is next in line of a lineage of great NFL quarterbacks for the Chargers. Though Philip Rivers is more of a debate when it comes to the Hall of Fame he was an amazing example of consistency and under different circumstances could have led a lot of other teams to Super Bowl wins.

It also doesn’t hurt that the great Dan Fouts played his entire career when they were still in San Diego and was a consistent MVP candidate, and was inducted into the HoF.
Indianapolis Colts
If Anthony Richardson can live up to his potential he still has to fight with two Hall of Famers in Peyton Manning and Johnny Unitas to be the best in franchise history. Of course, some Ravens fans would claim Unitas, but he belongs to Indianapolis. That duo alone brought in 7 MVP trophies when playing for the Colts which is absolutely absurd.
We can’t gloss over the time Andrew Luck spent with the Colts either even if he did go out on a sour note. Even after retiring early, his greatness can be appreciated.
San Francisco 49ers
Between the history of Steve Young and Joe Montana, the 49ers would have made this list. From 1979 to 1999 they combined for four MVPs, 14 Pro Bowls, and five Super Bowl wins. A 20-year window that will likely never be repeated.
Now no matter how you feel about Brock Purdy, you can’t deny that he looks to be the real deal. You can throw the “system” tag on him all you want but he was in serious consideration for MVP for a good chunk of last season. Not something everyone can do.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The present may feel a little bleak for the Steelers and their quarterback situation but Kenny Pickett has shown flashes of real talent and can certainly be considered good. The past is also a huge boost for Pittsburgh with Ben Roethlisberger and Terry Bradshaw.
The Steelers’ historic franchise was practically carved by those two. Together they won all six of the franchise’s Super Bowl and made the Steelers into one of the greatest franchises in the NFL.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys were a complete dynasty in the 90s with Troy Aikman at the helm. Just a few decades before then Roger Staubach, a Hall of Famer, was the starter for 11 seasons. Once Aikman was out the door it wouldn’t be long until Tony Romo took over and despite the lack of playoff success was certainly considered a good quarterback.
Now with Dak Prescott, they continue the lineage. Prescott receives a lot of hate, but last season he ended in second place for MVP while leading the league in touchdown passes.
Denver Broncos
Russell Wilson’s time with the Broncos seems to be ending on a bad note and after a poor season two years ago he really bounced back. Now with Sean Payton at the helm, you can be sure that Denver will find their guy soon.
Historically though between Peyton Manning and John Elway, they easily make this list. The pairing is one of the biggest reasons the franchise has those three Super Bowl rings. They also combined for two MVPs, and 12 Pro Bowl appearances.
Philadelphia Eagles
Historically Randall Cunningham and Donovan McNabb were both amazing QBS to don an Eagles Uniform. Cunningham spent his first 11 seasons in Philly, earning three Pro Bowl appearances and finishing second in MVP voting twice. McNabb also spent his first 11 seasons there but was voted to six Pro Bowls and finished second in MVP voting twice.
More recently the Eagles won a Super Bowl with Nick Foles, who despite never being super talented in his career was very good in that playoff run for the Eagles. Before that Wentz was playing at an MVP level before his ACL tear that led to the Foles legacy run. Now with Jalen Hurts they’ve gone to one Super Bowl with him and look to remain playoff contenders for years to come.
New England Patriots
The Patriots are having their struggle now and it doesn’t look like Mac Jones is the answer but could we write a list involving great QBs and somehow not mention Tom Brady? For 20 years Brady played in New England and was dominant for almost all of it. Six Super Bowls and three MVP awards don’t just fall out of the sky.
Even before that though Drew Bledsoe was very good for New England. He still went to three Pro Bowls in his nine years with the team, even leading the league in passing yards in 1994.
New York Giants
Similar to the Patriots the Giants seem to be in a weird position with their current QB. Daniel Jones earned himself a massive four-year $160 million contract extension last year but the team and fans don’t seem to be totally sold on him. However, they don’t give deals like that to everyone and he’s not a bad QB.
Historically going from Phill Simms to not long after Eli Manning gave the Giants about three decades’ worth of good quarterback play. Manning specifically was the poster boy of consistency.
