Tuesday night’s game between the Texas Longhorns and Texas Tech Red Raiders was a fiery one, with wild scenes erupting all over the arena after a particular play.
With the Longhorns leading 65-40 at Lubbock and around 10 minutes left in the game, forward Brock Cunningham left one on Red Raiders guard Darrio Williams, knocking him off balance with a hefty body check that led to a brief altercation.
While the flames were snuffed on the court, tempers boiled over in the stands as fans began throwing bottles. Texas Tech supporters were already angry at having to watch their team go down by 25, so they didn’t hesitate to set things off in the bleachers.
One young fan was shown getting carried out of the building by police. He is said to have scuffled with the lawmen before he was subdued and placed in handcuffs. They weren’t inclined to grant him the courtesy of walking out under heavy guard and lifted him off of the ground instead.
One eyewitness claims the fan in question did not throw anything but displayed some attitude while being questioned by security, which is what led to things getting physical.
