One of the most highly-touted basketball prospects in the entire country has announced his college commitment. And it’s a big one! (No pun intended.)
Olivier Rioux, who has been labeled as the tallest teenager in the world at 7’6″, has decided that he will be taking his talents to Gainesville to join the Florida Gators basketball program.
Rioux, who was born in Canada, is currently playing ball at the prestigious IMG Academy in Florida. He suited up for his country at the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup this year, averaging 3.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game as a 17-year-old.
He announced his commitment to the Gators on his Instagram page:
Olivier is currently recognized as the tallest teen in the world by the Guinness Book Of World Records. He’s expected to join the Gators for the 2024 season.
Here’s some footage of the giant teen dominating the competition on the hardcourt.

The University of Florida has always been known to have a strong basketball program, but they currently find themselves ranked outside the top 25 to start the 2023-24 season. Their only two national championships came in 2006 and 2007, while their last Final Four appearance was back in 2014.
They’ll be hoping Olivier can help take them back to the top of the college basketball world upon his arrival in Gainesville.
