Injuries are no laughing matter, but fans were making the same joke online after Washington running back Dillon Johnson suffered what looked to be a concerning injury against Texas on Monday night.
The Huskies won the Sugar Bowl matchup and are headed to the CFP National Championship game, where they will compete for their first title since 1991, but the victory came at a cost as they could be without one of their best players.
Johnson was tackled on a third down during the last minute of the game, with Washington opting to run the ball instead of having quarterback Michael Penix Jr. take a knee.
The 22-year-old appeared to be in excruciating pain while lying on the field and had to be helped off as he was unable to put any weight on his right foot. He was carted off after being examined in the medical tent.
Fans have suggested that Alabama should get to go to the final in the wake of the injury, making reference to FSU missing out on the CFP altogether because of an injury to starting quarterback Jordan Travis.

All jokes aside, let’s hope Johnson will be good to go next week.
“I don’t even know the severity,” Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer told reporters after the game.
“Obviously, it looked like he was in a lot of pain. We were kind of focused on the situation and the unfortunate piece with that with a guy going down and the clock situation. He’s a huge part of this team. Looks like he’s hurt pretty good, but we got to pick it up for him if that’s what it is.”
Johnson has registered 1,162 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns for the Huskies this season. His absence could really hurt them against Michigan’s defense next Monday.
