The college football world was left saddened and in shock following the shooting death of three University of Virginia football players on Sunday night.
In the days since the senseless act was carried out, a suspect has been arrested, and more horrifying details of the incident have emerged.
According to those details, the gunman, Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., was looking for specific targets on the charter bus, rather than just firing at random. And one of the victims, wide receiver Devin Chandler, was shot in his sleep.

Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., the suspected gunman in a shooting Sunday night that left three University of Virginia football players dead and another wounded, was aiming at people and not shooting a handgun randomly on a charter bus, according to a passenger on the bus.
A witness who was on the bus, which was returning from a class field trip to Washington, D.C., also told police that Jones shot and killed Cavaliers receiver Devin Chandler while he was sleeping.
Jones took part in a hearing from jail via video today. He told the judge that he would like to hire his own attorney and he was employed at the time of the shooting, saying little else during the 20-minute call.
District Attorney James Hingeley told the judge that Jones had previously been convicted of a misdemeanor for having a concealed weapon in June 2021. He also had outstanding warrants for misdemeanor hit-and-run property damage and reckless driving at the time of that arrest.

He is now being charged with three felonies for second-degree murder and firearm use in the commission of a felony, along with two counts of malicious wounding and other gun-related charges. He is currently being held without bail at Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
Chandler, junior receiver Lavel Davis Jr., and junior linebacker D’Sean Perry were also killed in the shooting. Running back Mike Hollins and Virginia student Marlee Morgan were also shot during the incident, with Hollins still recovering in the hospital after multiple surgeries to remove the bullet from his stomach.
