Travis Hunter won the Heisman T͏rophy on ͏Satu͏rday nig͏ht, but his mother ended up stealing the show with her comments.
The Colorado dual-threat joined a bunch of legends after winning the Heisman as his mother tagged him as a ‘mistake’ during her speech on Hunter’s win.
During the ceremony, his mother, Ferrante Harris, shared a powerful message as she spoke about her son and what he just accomplished,
At one point, she touted him as a mistake.
“I love the person that he is, but I’m also grateful that because what they said was my biggest mistake turned out to be the biggest blessing. So there, that just goes to show you, you can have, you can make mistakes, but that does not define who you are.”

Her comments looked bad when you first heard her, but she clearly said that other people referred to her child as a mistake.

Travis Hunter’s mother also sent a strong message to other moms like her:
“I’m so excited for him, but I’m also so excited for all the people that’s behind him, all the people that look up to him and see that he is just, you can do it. It doesn’t matter if you fall, get back up. You only fail when you stop, and he didn’t. Now look at him. Well, I just want to say, this is for the strong moms out there, because you have just spoken truth to all of us. Thank you so much.”
As for Hunter, he became the second Heisman winner in Colorado history, joining the late Rashaan Salaam, who won the award in 1994.
Hunter won with 2,231 total points, as compared to Jeanty, who finished with 2,017 points. His victory was the smallest margin of victory since Alabama running back Mark Ingram beat out Stanford RB Toby Gerhart in 2009.

Where Will Travis Hunter Get Drafted?
Travis Hunter will get drafted to a very bad team that desperately needs him.
Many teams drafting within the top few draft picks will want a quarterback, but it will be hard to ignore a talented two-way player like Hunter.
The Jaguars are widely considered the front-runner for the first overall pick, and since they have a quarterback in place, it is very likely that Hunter could go to them.
In the 2025 NFL Draft, Hunter is widely considered one of the best prospects in the class.
Hunter finished the regular season with 92 receptions and 14 receiving touchdowns for 1,152 receiving yards.
He also had 31 total tackles and four interceptions in 12 games this season.
