Texas starting quarterback Quinn Ewers offered a reaction to backup Arch Manning’s spring game performance on Saturday.
Manning showed precisely why he was the highest-rated QB of his class heading into college and was on fire during the annual event, passing for 355 yards and three touchdowns as he started with a 75-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Moore. He also completed his first 10 passes.
Trey Owens also put on a show in the game as he threw for 228 yards and three scores, completing 14 of 21 passing attempts.
Ewers spoke to reporters after the game and claimed he enjoyed watching both players during their outing.
“They both did a great job of showcasing how much they’ve both grown throughout this whole entire spring,” he said, per the team’s YouTube channel. “It was fun to watch.“

Arch Manning Has All Of Texas Excited
Arch Manning won’t be starting for the Texas Longhorns next season – although there’s always a chance of him usurping Quinn Ewers – but he’s left fans pretty excited.
Manning, the nephew of NFL greats Eli and Peyton Manning, was the nation’s top recruit in 2023. But he only made one appearance last season, coming on to make two of five passes in a rout of Texas Tech.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian was pleased to give him some reps during Saturday’s game.
“I wanted Arch to be able to just go play football,” Sarkisian said. “He hadn’t really played in a year. … When he keeps his eyes up and steps up in the pocket, he can deliver those balls down the field the way we like to play. It was good to see, and it’s good to see some of the guys around him play with him the way that they did.“
