Once you get to the college level of football, plays can get very confusing. Usually, a head coach will develop a very thorough and creative set of hand signals for players to use and watch in case a quick change needs to be used. However, a player on the field for the University of South Carolina was filled using a very unique and suggestive signal.
While the offense was on the field, the camera panned over to the huddle. A USC player was caught thrusting a closed fist into his facemask, making for a very weird sight.
Of course, everyone who noticed immediately started making jokes about the strange hand signal.
“I believe that is the old Matt Canada jet sweep special that the @steelers ran for years…,” one comment said.
“No wonder they call em the gamecocks,” another said.

“Slam it down the middle,” a third joked.
It’s hard to believe that it is an actual hand signal that South Carolina actually uses, but if it is a joke, there is definitely a better and much more subtle time to make it. In the middle of a highly televised game probably isn’t the best spot.
University of South Carolina barely Squeaks By In Week 1 Win
South Carolina started the season 1-0, but it wasn’t without much stress from USC fans. They won by just four points against Old Dominion.
Their starting quarterback, LaNorris Sellers, didn’t impress much, completing 10 of 23 passes for 114 yards and just one rushing touchdown. They got another rushing touchdown from running back Raheim Sanders on 88 yards.
South Carolina’s kicker went three for four on field goal attempts, with his longest being 46 yards.
