A college soccer game between Notre Dame and Stanford ended in the unlikeliest of ways this Thursday.
The aforementioned teams squared off in the 2024 ACC Tournament, with Stanford winning 3-2 at the death after a topsy-turvy affair that came down to the final seconds.
Notre Dame tied scores at 2-2 with just 10 seconds left in the match after being handed an opportunity from the penalty spot due to the opposing keeper holding the ball for too long in an effort to waste time.
But Stanford’s Dylan Hooper would seal passage for his team with a mindblowing shot from behind the halfway line that somehow managed to drop below the crossbar and sail past the goalie, hitting the back of the net as time expired.

College Soccer May Have Produced A Historic Moment With This One
The ending to the game has been described as one of the craziest moments in the history of college soccer, with social media losing it over the insane highlight.
“Never seen a half-field buzzer beater goal in soccer… ever 🤯,” a fan raved.
“Probably the greatest shot in American soccer history,” said another.
“How do you not save that?” asked a third.
“The goalie seemed to be in good position. The shot was just freaking spot on. Threading the needle 🪡,” someone offered.
“The announcer with the “OOooooOoOooOooO 🥴,” a comment read.
“That has to be saved right? Or was it just kicked at the absolute, most perfect angle?” a user asked.
“This is the greatest shot in the history of the sport without question,” someone else declared.
Meanwhile, Stanford will play Clemson in the tournament’s next round and will have some momentum on their side following this incredible play.
