Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders had a rough time during the team’s ugly Week 2 loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday.
Very little went right for Shedeur Sanders and the Buffaloes in their 28-10 blowout loss at the hands of their archrivals. The new-look Colorado offensive line had no answers for Nebraska’s pass rush, allowing Sanders to take six sacks throughout the contest.
The game’s defining moment came in the first quarter, when Sanders threw a pick-six from his own end zone to Tommi Hill. The pass was intended for freshman wide receiver Drelon Miller, as Hill broke on the route and took it to the house for six. That fired up the Cornhuskers’ fans even more, and the Buffs couldn’t recover.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Shedeur Sanders called the pick-six “a rookie mistake”.
While some felt as though Shedeur may have been placing the blame on himself, many felt that the Buffs’ QB was actually blaming Miller when he called the play a “rookie mistake.”
Jason Whitlock seemed to imply that much with his caption. And many on social media agreed:

Sanders completed 23 of 38 pass attempts for 244 yards, a touchdown and one interception in the loss. The Buffaloes finished with just 16 rushing yards on the day, compared to 149 for the Cornhuskers on 35 carries.
The ugly loss came a year after the Buffaloes soundly defeated their archrivals in the first home game of the Deion Sanders era. In that contest, Shedeur Sanders was almost perfect with 31 completions for 393 yards and two touchdowns in a 36-14 victory.
Over his first two games of 2024, the 22-year-old Sanders has 689 passing yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions.
Shedeur Sanders & Buffs Try To Rebound vs. Colorado State
Sanders and the Buffaloes have put the loss to Nebraska behind them and now must flip the page to Week 3 against the inner-state rival Colorado State. The Buffaloes will visit the Rams this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. EST.
Last year, the Buffaloes narrowly outlasted the Rams 43-35 in an overtime thriller to improve to 3-0. In that game, Sanders completed 38 of 47 pass attempts for 348 yards, four touchdowns and one interception.
The 1-1 Rams are coming off a 38-17 blowout victory over the Northen Colorado Bears.
