The lead-up to the Texas Tech–Colorado game had little to do with the game, and Shedeur Sanders wasn’t happy about it.
For each Red Raiders home game, Texas Tech celebrates with a unique theme and gameday shirt, which is sold exclusively by Red Raider Outfitter.
The “Celebrate America” shirt was apparently declined because the Colorado Buffaloes would not license its logo for it, leading to some backlash.
Red Raider Outfitter owner Stephen Spiegelberg got things started by revealing that the design process began months in advance, and Texas Tech’s athletic department approved it quickly.
However, once they reached out to Colorado, the Buffaloes would provide a much different response.
“We were told they won’t be licensing a product that had an American flag on it,” he said via KCBD News Channel 11 Lubbock.

After Colorado beat Texas Tech 41-27 on Saturday afternoon, Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders was asked about this controversy.
He said, “That’s sick… Y’all just fishing for content at this point, That was very disturbing. It’s genuine people out there that read the media that don’t know us and they believe the lies and the narrative. And some people may not have the chance to really understanding what’s going on in the situation.”
According to Colorado, what has been told was not true.
“We get requests to use our marks and often decline for any number of reasons,” a Colorado spokesperson told KCBD. “Our standards are consistently applied and are based on widely accepted licensing and trademark best practices used by national and global brands.”

Colorado’s 41-27 victory over Texas Tech highlighted Shedeur Sanders’ remarkable performance.
He completed 30 of 43 pass attempts, finishing the game with 291 yards passing, three passing touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown.
Shedeur Sanders Continues To Solidify Himself As A First-Round Draft Pick
Over the season, Sanders has maintained consistent excellence in a rebound year for the Buffaloes.
Sanders was 30 of 43 for 291 yards as he threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score in their latest win over Texas Tech.
Overall, Shedeur Sanders has completed 250 of 343 passes for 2,882 yards, 24 touchdowns, and only six interceptions.
