Oklahoma State University head coach Mike Gundy made an interesting comment about star running back Ollie Gordon’s DUI arrest he’s since come under fire for.
Gundy revealed that Gordon, the 2023 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, would not be suspended after being arrested late last month.
The HC was asked for an explanation during conference media day this week and said he felt it was best for the player, the school, and the program. Gundy also said he did research on blood alcohol content based on body weight and the amount it would take to get someone over the legal limit in Oklahoma.
He then admitted he’s been guilty of pretty much the same thing many times.
“I thought, really, two or three beers, or four — I’m not justifying what Ollie did, I’m telling you what decision I made — well, I thought I probably done that a thousand times in my life,” he said.
“So, I got lucky. People get lucky. Ollie made a decision that he wishes he could’ve done better.”

Mike Gundy Has Backtracked On What He Said About Ollie Gordon’s Legal Matter
The coach noted he was fully aware of how serious it can be to drive after drinking and told his player he was lucky nothing happened.
Ollie Gordon has since apologized for getting arrested. He said on Monday he would learn and grow from his mistakes.
Meanwhile, Gundy has since backtracked on what he said about Gordon’s matter, claiming he was referring to lapses in judgment in general and not necessarily drinking and driving.
“My intended point today at Big 12 media days was that we are all guilty of making bad decisions,” he said. “It was not a reference to something specific.”
