The Mississippi State Bulldogs football team is having a terrible 2024 season, and it is certainly not a good look for the program as it tries to get top players to commit.
The Bulldogs are in the midst of its worst season in more than 20 years as first-year head coach Jeff Lebby has taken over a program that is trying to rebuild.
On Saturday, the Bulldogs found themselves down ten after the first quarter while at home at Davis Wade Stadium.
Footage would then surface online showing an apparent Mississippi State recruit visiting Starkville and preparing a post on “X” to decommit from the program.
At the time, State was trailing UMass 10-0, but things would get much better from then on.
The Bulldogs would score 35 straight points and ultimately win 42-10.

This was Mississippi State’s second win of the season, and it could likely be their last. They will be the underdogs in their final three games against Tennessee, Missouri, and Ole Miss.
Saturday’s win against UMass could be the confidence boost Mississippi State needs to pull off some upsets and keep its recruits from leaving.
3-star cornerback Iverson McCoy appeared to be the player who was writing his de-commit statement, but it appears he changed his mind.
He may have been typing his de-commitment letter as a joke, and it’s a good thing that he did since McCoy is a Top-15 player in the state with offers from SEC rivals Ole Miss and Kentucky.

Last year, the team won five games and it appears they will fall short of even reaching that number in 2024.
The program is well on its way to its fourth losing season in the last six years.
