LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy is likely going to get a stern talking-to after his actions on the field Sunday.
During the Modelo Vegas Kickoff Classic in Las Vegas, Tigers quarterback Garrett Nussmeier found Kyren Lacy on the near-side corner for a 19-yard touchdown.
After the touchdown, Kyren Lacy dampened his score when he decided to celebrate by pretending to shoot a USC Trojans defender with a gun.
Lacy was hit with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, forcing LSU to kick off from their own 20 instead of the usual 35.
Rece Davis and Kirk Herbstreit were both in agreement that it was a “good call.”

Herbstreit said he understood college players’ “emotion” but drew the line “when you do something like that.”
Kyren Lacy clearly learned nothing from the penalty, because footage then showed him on the bench showing his teammates the gun gesture he made.
Lacy was pulled aside by LSU’s head coach, Brian Kelly, on the sideline, but it’s unclear if it was before he did it the second time or not.
It all blew up in his face later as the USC Trojans would come back and win this game, 27-20.
Kyren Lacy Expected To Have Huge Season In 2024
Kyren Lacy should be discussed for his performance on Sunday, but much of the conversation revolves around his celebration of a touchdown by pretending to shoot a gun.
The officials did not hesitate to penalize LSU for unsportsmanlike conduct following Lacy’s actions.
It took away a bit from his game as Lacy caught seven passes on ten targets for 94 yards and a touchdown, per his stats on ESPN.
The player that everyone will be talking about is LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy this year after he began his college career at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2020 before transferring to LSU ahead of the 2022 season.
Last season, Kyren Lacy had 30 receptions for 558 yards and seven touchdowns, and that was done with now-NFL receivers Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. on the team.
A huge year in 2024 and he can see himself going in the first round as well.
