LSU head coach Kim Mulkey was a bit rough with Caitlin Clark after the Iowa star scored 41 points in a 94-87 win over the Tigers in the NCAA Tournament on Monday night.
The Hawkeyes are headed to the Final Four while Mulkey’s side is going home.
While the rivalry between these two teams has grown since they played each other in last year’s final, they were very respectful after Iowa got one over LSU in their Elite Eight matchup. The players hugged it out in the handshake line while Mulkey was seen sharing an embrace with Clark, though she’s accused of trying to break the point guard’s neck.

Mulkey later told reporters that she told Clark she was happy she’s leaving college basketball, with the Iowa guard announcing her intention to enter the WNBA Draft.
“I sure am glad you leaving. Girl, you something else. Never seen anything like it,” Mulkey said she told Caitlin while speaking in her post-game press conference.
While Clarke has opted to forego her final year of eligibility, LSU’s Angel Reese is yet to announce a decision.
She told the media she wasn’t sure following last night’s loss but will have to make an announcement this week, per WNBA rules, which require players to renounce NCAA eligibility 48 hours after their last game if they make it to the Elite Eight – that is if they want to go pro.
Kim Mulkey Explains National Anthem Snub
There were also plenty of questions following LSU’s absence on the floor while the National Anthem was being played before the game. Kim Mulkey told the press she wasn’t aware the anthem was playing and didn’t intentionally skip it.
“Honestly, I don’t even know when the anthem was played,” she said.
“They come off at the 12-minute mark. We just, I don’t know, we come in and we do our pregame stuff. I’m sorry, listen, that’s nothing intentionally done.“
While Mulkey and LSU are poised to return to the drawing board, the Hawkeyes will play the UConn Huskies in the Final Four this Friday.
