Fans are ripping on Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders for seemingly faking an injury during Thursday night’s game against the North Dakota State Bison.
With 10:09 remaining in the second quarter of the Buffs’ season opener, Shedeur Sanders and the offense began running off the field to sub out for the punting team. But before he reached the sidelines, Sanders suddenly went down on the field to apparently fake a cramp injury:
Was it really a cramp, or was Shedeur faking the injury as a strategic way to stop the game and help Colorado avoid a delay of game penalty? You be the judge, but social media certainly isn’t convinced that he was actually hurting:

Fake injury or not, Shedeur Sanders’ stoppage didn’t help the Buffs offense there. They were stopped on a 4th-and-1 play from their own 34-yard line, and the Bison took advantage of the short field by tacking on a field goal that increased their lead to six points.
But what a first half performance it was for Shedeur Sanders, who completed 12 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns over the first two quarters. And that was with practically no help from his defense.
Sanders is coming off an excellent first season in Boulder, where he completed 69.3 percent of pass attempts for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns and only three interceptions to go along with four rushing scores.
Shedeur Sanders Is Embracing The Improved Pass Protection
Sanders’ incredible 2023 stat line is especially impressive when you consider that he was sacked more than any other quarterback in the country last season. Here he is with a brand new offensive line, and Sander is already on pace to surpass 500 yards passing in his season debut.
Regardless of tonight’s outcome, one thing is clear: If this revamped o-line drastically improves, the sky will be the limit for Shedeur Sanders and the Colorado offense.
