Drake Maye had a rough start to his Pro Day on Thursday but bounced back impressively as he went on to make an impressive long throw that sent the internet into a frenzy.
The former North Carolina star is projected to be a first-round draft pick next month, although he has seen his stock drop in the buildup, with many analysts criticizing a perceived lack of athleticism.
Still, several NFL teams are looking to add a QB this offseason, so falling out of the top 10 is unlikely.
ESPN’s Mel Kiper has Maye coming off the board at No. 7, The Athletic’s Dane Brugler has him at No. 4, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah has him at No. 5, and Pro Football Focus has him getting selected at No. 3.
Maye managed to wow everyone after nervously tossing a pass into the crowd earlier in his drill session by pulling out the 65-yard bomb shown below with a simple flick of his wrist.

Here’s what fans had to say:
Maye threw 70 passes in front of NFL scouts this Thursday, starting with lots of pace. As mentioned above, he wasn’t all that accurate, to begin with, and had some clear misses on deep out routes and slants in the early going. But he found his form after taking a quick break to speak to his receivers.
Many Expect the Patriots To Draft Drake Maye
Drake Maye is expected to be drafted by the New England Patriots, who have the third-overall pick this year. He would have done his prospects very little harm with his Pro Day outing.
The former Tar Heels signal-caller threw for 3,608 yards, 24 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in 12 games last season, completing 63.3 percent of his passes. In two seasons playing for UNC, Maye also recorded 1,147 rushing yards and 16 scores from the ground.
