The biggest news of the day in the United States started with the continuing of the NCAA Tournament, but it was overshadowed by Kate Middleton.
Catherine, Princess of Wales, has cancer, she announced in a video message released by Kensington Palace on Friday and is in the early stages of chemotherapy.
In the video, the former Kate Middleton said the diagnosis was a “huge shock after an incredibly tough couple of months,” according to CNN.com.
This news came as a shock and sudden so all major networks had to report on it.
The timing of the announcement came during a break in the action between the 9-seeded Northwestern and 8-seeded Florida Atlantic. It came at the perfect time since no game action was missed by Kate Middleton’s announcement.
Kate Middleton was last seen in public on Christmas 2023 and we would not be updated on her until January 17th when Kensington Palace announced she’d be undergoing abdominal surgery and mentioned that she’d be “unlikely” to resume her public duties until Easter.

Her absence from the public eye seemed out of character, especially with her longstanding role as a stalwart for the British royal family.
Kate Middleton’s Health Has Been The Subject of Speculation For Sometime
Kate Middleton’s cancer was found during testing done after she successfully underwent major abdominal surgery in January, according to her recorded statement. She did not specify the type of cancer or its stage.
Before this, Kate’s health and well-being have been the subject of speculation since she disappeared from public view in late December.
This cancer diagnosis is just another blow in a recent bout of bad news for the royal family.
