We hear it all the time: referees nowadays are trying to make games all about them. Saturday’s game between the Maryland Terrapins and Indiana Hoosiers was a typical example, as running back Roman Hemby benefitted massively from an official’s actions.
Players often benefit from refereeing because they have a certain call go their way. However, Hemby was literally assisted with his rush as the ref made an important block for him, though inadvertently.
The video below shows the RB scoring at the end of a 75-yard run after the ref prevents an Indiana defender from reaching him with a hefty stop.

“So yall just gonna ignore the ref blocking 😭,” one fan lamented.
“Key block by the ref,” another observed.
“Ref should get 3 of those 6 points,” said a third.
“Refs literally help them with the td smh,” a fourth said in disgust.
“Mvp of the play was the block by the ref,” a user wrote.
“Ref laid one hell of a block 😂,” someone else said.
“That’s just an 8 yard run without the ref block, what the hell was that? 😭,” a comment read.
The play and the resulting kick put Maryland level, but the Hoosiers were back up 35-21 at the tie of writing.
