Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy wants the Michigan Wolverines to go out and get a new quarterback, and he’s willing to finance it.
Portnoy is a longtime Michigan fan who, despite the program’s 3-1 start, isn’t happy with their passing this season. Of course, his reasoning is sound, as Davis Warren has thrown six interceptions in three games and hasn’t protected the football as well as he should.
Meanwhile, Alex Orji has been doing more running than throwing.
Portnoy wants to see someone better under center and has offered to pay a lot in NIL money to acquire a top quarterback for the Wolverines.
“Michigan, I will be your quarterback guy. You just say, ‘Dave, you go [get a quarterback]. I’ll talk to whoever you want. I will sign them $1 million, $2 million – whatever it is,” he said recently. “I can get a quarterback. We don’t have a quarterback.”
El Presidente said he wouldn’t go higher than $3 million, but he’d be willing to bankroll the school’s QB ambitions every season.

Might Michigan Take Dave Portnoy Up On His Offer?
This is an offer the program could find too good to turn down. Why not have someone else pay for your signal-caller every year if they’re going after the best talent out there?
Should they take him up on it, this could shake up college football.
Michigan hasn’t responded to the offer, but they should be aware of it by now and might get into talks with him at the end of the season.
Orji is the main man at the moment, but he only had 32 passing yards in Michigan’s recent win over USC, completing seven of 12 attempts. He added 43 yards from 13 carries on the ground.
The Wolverines have Minnesota up next.
