As most fans are aware, Nyck Harbor, a wide receiver for South Carolina football, is a dual-sport athlete. One of the best freshmen in the country this season, the 6’5″, 240-pound powerhouse also plays track for the Gamecocks.
Nyck Harbor was arguably the most exciting talent in the country coming into the 2023 class when he joined the South Carolina football and track programs.
Because of his springtime efforts, Harbor qualified for the NCAA East Regionals. On Wednesday, he and the other South Carolina track and field qualifiers started competition in Lexington, Kentucky. Athletes participated in the Regionals in an attempt to go to Eugene, Oregon, for the NCAA Championships.
The No. 15-ranked prospect in the college football recruiting Class of 2023 is 6-foot-5, 245 pounds, and he makes NCAA track athletes look downright tiny when they stand next to him.
Harbor has qualified for the NCAA Nationals in both the 100m and 200m events.

Nyck Harbor Set To Have Possible Massive Year In 2024 For The South Carolina Gamecocks
This autumn, Nyck Harbor will begin his sophomore year of collegiate football. He participated in all 12 football games last season as a true freshman, hauling in 12 passes for 195 yards and one touchdown. Given that Antwann Wells and Xavier Leggette left the program through the Transfer Portal and the NFL Draft, respectively, he appears to play a significantly more significant part in 2024, via Gamecocks.com.
In addition to his achievements on the track barely a month ago, head coach Shane Beamer praised Harbor for his ability to stay focused on the football game.
“[He has done so] in regards to he and LaNorris [Sellers], and other guys being able to do stuff on their own, he and Coach [Mike] Furrey being able to do kind of stuff on their own within the rules and whatever Nyck wants to do, but when class isn’t conflicting with his schedule, he’s here,” Shane recalled.
“He hasn’t really been around on the weekends and then Monday, Wednesday, Friday or days that we meet and lift as well for the morning. So he’s working around [his] class schedule on that, but it works out pretty good for the practice days. He was here today as well and he’s adamant about being a great football player and it’s not like when he’s here everyone’s like, ‘Oh my God, Nyck’s in the building,’ and all that. It’s just whatcha kind of expect, and [you] walk in [and] there he is sitting in [the] front row in the team meeting or second row in the team meeting right in the middle and involved. So he wants to give his all to track and be the very best he can be there for those guys, but then he also wants to be his very best for football and give everything he can to football also.”
