Though it took more than 50 years, records are meant to be broken. Caitlin Clark achieved yet another amazing feat during the Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Ohio State Buckeyes game on Sunday afternoon.
The senior guard for the Hawkeyes passed Pete Maravich to become the all-time highest scorer in NCAA Division I for both men and women. Following his breakthrough performance against Kelsey Plum’s women’s scoring record last month, Clark has now accomplished something else.
As expected, wearing vintage basketball sneakers from Kobe Bryant’s brand line, Clark shattered the scoring record.
The late Kobe Bryant’s wife Vanessa congratulated the player after breaking the record in her Instagram stories.
Wearing the Nike Kobe 6 in the “Playoff Pack – Del Sol” colorway, Caitlin Clark shattered Maravich’s all-time scoring record. The $180 trainers were first available in June 2021. Most sneaker resale websites require online buyers to spend more than $600 for the limited-edition hoops sneakers.
Inspired by the original ‘Playoff Pack,’ which was introduced in 2011 a decade earlier, comes the ‘Del Sol’ hue. The colorway has a white faux snakeskin upper with gold accents and black Swoosh emblems to contrast.

Over her time in college, Caitlin Clark has worn a variety of Nike Kobe models. Better yet, she’s evolved into the de facto spokesperson for the women’s basketball footwear brand. The colors of Iowa’s school nicely complement some of Bryant’s most famous trainers, and Clark’s attacking brilliance makes an even greater connection.

Caitlin Clark has been on a tear
Caitlin Clark has had an incredible few weeks after taking the NCAA women’s points record from Kelsey Plum on February 15.
She subsequently overtook Lynette Woodward, an AIAW player whose record of 3,649 points for women in major college basketball was rejected by the NCAA, on February 28.
On Thursday, Clark made it known that she would forego her last year of college eligibility to enter the 2024 WNBA Draft.
The Brooklyn Academy of Music will host the draft on April 15; the Indiana Fever will get the first pick.
