Utah football player Aaron Lowe was fatally shot on Sunday in Salt Lake City, less than a year after teammate and friend Ty Jordan was killed in an accidental shooting.
Salt Lake City police said the 21-year-old died on the scene in a shooting at a house party in the city’s Sugar House neighborhood.
According to the latest report from the Associated Press, investigators have “several promising leads” regarding Lowe’s killing.
“No arrests were immediately made in shooting, but tips had given detectives several potential leads, said Salt Lake City police Chief Mike Brown.
Police had previously gotten noise complaints about the party, but officers did not respond because they were dealing with other emergency calls, said police spokesman Brent Weisberg.”
On Monday, Lowe’s mother, Donna Lowe-Stern pleaded with the public to come forward with any information .

“I just want everyone to know, if you know anything, anything about the people that did this to my child, please come forward and say something,” Lowe-Stern told KSL-TV. “I don’t think they should be allowed to be free.”
William Smith, his father, described the moment to KUTV that he got the call from his son’s mother, “she says, ‘we lost a child.'”
“I’m not crying because he’s gone. I guess I’m crying because I can’t see him, I can’t talk to him. I can’t get a hold of him,” Smith said.
Speaking to, “young men and young women,” Smith pleaded, “please, please, put the guns down. Pray.”
Salt Lake City Police Chief Mike Brown said detectives are working to identify a suspect or suspects in Sunday’s shooting.
“This talented young man touched the lives of so many here in Salt Lake City and in Texas,” Brown said in a statement. “The Salt Lake City Police Department grieves with and offers our condolences to the Lowe family and the University of Utah community. Our condolences also extend to the other person injured in this shooting. I hope for their quick recovery.”
