Just how big is the hype for today’s contest between the USC Trojans and the Colorado Buffaloes?
So much so that there are scouts for more than half of the NFL’s 32 teams for today’s clash in the Centennial State. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports that a total of 30 NFL scouts from a total of 21 teams are in Boulder.
USC quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams is widely expected to be the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Deion Sanders’ son, Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders, is also expected to be an early-round selection.
Sanders’ Buffaloes have been one of the top stories in college football thus far. Prime Time took over a team that one a single game a year ago, and they’ve already tripled that win total.
Colorado opened its season with a stunning road win over the TCU Horned Frogs, last season’s national championship runner-ups. That was followed by home wins over the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Colorado State Rams.
Sanders and the Buffaloes were no match for the Oregon Ducks at Autzen Stadium last week, however, as they fell 42-6. The loss dropped the Buffaloes out of the top 25, while USC entered this game as the No. 8 ranked team.
