Former Bowling Green, Utah, Florida and Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer believes Jim Harbaugh’s suspension is, in a word, “insanity.”
On Friday, the Big Ten announced that Harbaugh was suspended for the remainder of the regular season for in-person scouting violations and allegations that the Wolverines stole signs from opposing teams.
Speaking on FOX’s “Big Noon Kickoff” (h/t Hunter Hodies The Spun), Meyer gave his take on Harbaugh’s three-game suspension:
“This is insanity. You have two teams playing for a conference championship and a potential National Championship. Your head coach is eight miles away. I don’t put it past him to helicopter in for the first quarter. It’s insanity.”
Meyer and Harbaugh had several memorable showdowns during the former’s run as head coach of the Buckeyes. Needless to say, there are countless fans and analysts who share Meyer’s opinion on the matter.
Harbaugh and Michigan filed a request for a temporary restraining order against the Big Ten, hoping to block his suspension. The Wolverines will visit the Maryland Terrapins next Saturday before wrapping up their regular season against the archrival and No. 1 ranked Ohio State on Nov. 25.
