Could Urban Meyer find himself back on the sidelines coaching again? If he does, it surely will not happen in the NFL.
This week, the Northwestern football program fired head coach Pat Fitzgerald following an investigation into hazing allegations within the program.
Former LSU Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron reportedly has an interest in the program.
“One such name on that list might include former LSU coach Ed Orgeron,” InsideNU reported.
“According to a source, Orgeron “would have interest” in Northwestern’s opening. However, the source shared that NU has not contacted Orgeron.”
However, he is not the only one being mentioned for the job.
The Ohio State football program had to part ways with Urban Meyer after the 2018 season. He said he was retiring because of health-related issues, yet he would go on to coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars, who later fired him for a multitude of issues.

His NFL tenure quickly flamed out and was an unmitigated disaster. His reputation took a big hit after that mess. But he was an extremely good college coach.
The Wildcats have enough controversy and likely would not want to bring Meyer in right now with everything he went through and was accused of doing while in Jacksonville.
If Northwestern wants to win more football games, Meyer is a name they certainly could not ignore. However, from a moral standpoint, it would be tough to ignore his past.
