News of Bronny James getting rushed to hospital after collapsing in practice at USC sent shockwaves through the sports world on Tuesday, with the freshman reported to have suffered cardiac arrest.
TMZ, who broke the story a day after it happened, has provided an update on the 18-year-old’s condition, noting he is doing well enough to have his parents “relieved.”
LeBron and Savannah James’ worlds came to an abrupt halt on Monday after they were alerted. But TMZ reports they are calmer as Bronny is doing much better.
While they’re desperate to find out what caused their son’s heart to stop, they have received enough reassurances from his doctors to be optimistic.
“We’re told Bronny is doing much better … well enough that his parents are calmer,” TMZ reports. “Not to say, of course, they’re not anxious to know what caused Bronny’s heart to stop, but they seem to have gotten enough reassurance from his doctors to tamp down the fear. One word used to describe them — “optimistic.”
The fact that Bronny wasn’t in intensive care for very long is also understood to have allayed his parents’ fears.

The publication also states that doctors still need to run more tests to find out what caused the cardiac arrest.
Neither Lebron nor Savannah have offered public comment but a family spokesperson made a statement earlier this week.
