With college football officially back on, college traditions returned as well – some good, some bad. Then there’s this tradition.
As College Gameday on ESPN returns to Charlotte, North Carolina for the Duke’s Mayo Classic between the No. 21 ranked UNC Tar Heels and the South Carolina Gamecocks, fans showed up with gallons of mayo, chugging it, and in a certain fan’s case, a full mayo bath.
UNC fans are clearly excited about the return of college football, and one fan decided that getting doused with the condiment was the appropriate way to celebrate. Though an odd way to celebrate, to say the least, fans were definitely on the college fan’s side on social media.

This is why college football is so loved. The rowdy fans, the youthful nature of arenas and gameday coverage, and the ecstasy of sharing this moment with cheering fans. A tradition that many of us won’t get, but one that united fans online.
The Tar Heels will host the Gamecocks at 7:30 this evening, and if this is the atmosphere in Charlotte, expect this game to be a must-watch.
