UConn may have already completed the most embarrassing play of the 2023 college football season during their home opener against NC State on Thursday.
The new NCAA season isn’t quite off the ground yet, so we can expect to see a bit of rust from teams. But the Huskies appear to be in need of some extra fine-tuning following their gaffe against the Wolfpack at Rentschler Field.
UConn ended up looking pretty silly after trying a misdirection on a first-and-10 from their own 36-yard line as quarterback Joseph Fagnano looked to make a tap pass to a receiver in a left-to-right motion, with the running back cutting the opposite way.
The play didn’t quite work out as planned as the WR and RB ran into each other, forcing an incompletion on their own.

The Huskies stayed in the game, though they ultimately lost 24-14.

Fagnano made 14 of his 26 pass attempts, throwing for 113 yards and an interception, and will hope for a better performance against Georgia State next Saturday.
