Alabama could soon make a move for a top college quarterback said to be keen on a transfer this year.
According to Gary Ferman of CaneSport, Tyler Van Dyke is looking to leave Miami as he is frustrated with the school’s inability to present him with a satisfactory NIL proposal. The player is said to have already received lucrative offers from other programs, including an SEC powerhouse.
According to the aforementioned publication, Van Dyke is not a fan of the Hurricanes’ financial strategy.
“Sources have told CaneSport for many months that the Van Dyke camp has been frustrated that it has not been able to land a massive NIL haul at Miami, where the effort has been more spread out as opposed to centered on one player,” On3 is reporting about the Miami quarterback.
The QB’s representatives at Rosenhaus Sports are understood to have been contacted as a means of gauging the interest in a transfer.
Outkick’s Trey Wallace reports there is significant interest front the Crimson Tide., though he claims he has some difficulty believing Alabama wants the player, suggesting this leak could be a way of getting Van Dyke more money at Miami.

The player threw for 2,931 yards and 25 touchdowns to win the ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2021. He sustained a shoulder injury in 2022 but bounced back well enough.
It’s also worth noting that Alabama offensive coordinator Tommy Rees already has a relationship with Van Dyke. Time should tell whether the interest is real, as well as whether the QB actually wants out or is simply trying to leverage the Hurricanes.
