Devon Starling has a lot going on in his life.
A football staffer at Tennessee State University was arrested after being accused of ramming his vehicle in a jealous rage. Director of football operations and on-campus recruiting Ariel Escobar allegedly drove running back Devon Starling’s car in a lovers’ spat.
It was uncovered that Starling told police Escobar was his ‘ex-fling’ and that she was outside his apartment when he got home with his current girlfriend. She refused to leave so Starling got back in his car and drove around while waiting for police to respond. After Starling pulled into a parking lot, Escobar allegedly rammed his car, causing minor damage.
Escobar is charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon plus one count of misdemeanor vandalism.
This wasn’t even the beginning of the issues between all three.
His current girlfriend, Mai Kanu, has also been arrested because she walked in on Starling and Escobar having sexual relations as she began to beat the both of them.

“Both women in Devon Starling’s life have now gone to jail over him. After Monday’s revelation that Tennessee State Football’s Director of Operations, Ariel Escobar, rammed her car into the vehicle of her part-time lover, Football Player Devon Starling, multiple staff have confirmed the school’s administration knew about the relationship since August, when 22-year-old Mai Kanu, who is Starling’s full-time girlfriend and was in the car when Escobar rammed it, was herself arrested. Police say Kanu came to Starling’s apartment on August 24th, aware he had another woman inside…
“Kanu stormed through the door and found the school’s Football Ops Director, Ariel Escobar, romantically entwined with Sterling. She repeatedly struck Sterling in the face, leaving him with multiple visible injuries and swelling. Kanu attacked Escobar, too, pulling her hair and punching her in the face. Escobar did not wish to prosecute to avoid being named in the police report. The following week, records show multiple staff members reported the incident to TSU’s Director of Athletics, Dr. Mikki Allen, who dismissed the reports. Staff also reported Escobar had another s*xual relationship with a co-worker, a member of the Football program’s Executive Administration team.”
These two ladies need to get their lives in order and realize they are both being used.
“The University is aware of an arrest of an employee, and takes the allegations associated with the incident seriously,” the university said in a statement Monday. “TSU is unable to comment on specific personnel matters or matters potentially implicating student privacy laws. We will have no further comment at this time.”
Hopefully, he can maneuver between the defense on the field just as easy as he does women off of it.
In the meantime, Starling has announced he is entering the transfer portal. He transferred to Tennessee State after spending one season at the University of Memphis in 2019.
In his first season with TSU, he led the OVC with 647 rushing yards on 124 attempts and rushing for three touchdowns in seven games.
