Former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Trent Dilfer was present for the UAB Blazers’ Bahamas Bowl showdown against the Miami Redhawks on Friday, and soon-to-be NCAA head coach found a way to steal the spotlight while on the sidelines.
Dilfer will take over as the new head coach of UAB next season. The 2022 Blazers were coached by Bryan Vincent, who served as the interim head coach following the resignation of head coach Bill Clark.
During the UAB-Miami game, the Super Bowl 34-winning quarterback was seen showing his Super Bowl championship ring to a Blazers’ cheerleader on the sideline. You can see a video clip of it below:
Dilfer was a journeyman NFL quarterback who started out playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1994 to 1999. He even earned a Pro Bowl odd in the 1997 season, but injuries unfortunately cut his tenure there short.
The Fresno State product then joined the Baltimore Ravens in 2000. Dilfer and Tony Banks each played eight games for Baltimore that year, and thanks to a historically dominant defense, neither QB had to put up eye-popping numbers.
The Ray Lewis-led defense allowed just 10.3 points per game, even pitching four shutouts on the year. Baltimore was also blessed with superstar quarterback Jamal Lewis and future rushing champion Priest Holmes.

Dilfer won seven of eight regular season starts in Baltimore but only had to complete 59.3 percent of his pass attempts for 1,502 yards, 12 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. In the Ravens’ four postseason games, he completed less than half his passes (47.9) for 590 yards and three touchdowns against one interception.
The Ravens decided not to bring back Dilfer after winning their Super Bowl, instead handing out a giant contract to another journeyman in Elvis Grbac in a move that did not pan out. Dilfer joined the Seattle Seahawks in 2001 and had brief stints with the Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers before retiring in 2008.
