The name Henry Blackburn instantly became well-known across college football over one football play.
Travis Hunter suffered a lacerated liver on a late hit out of bounds by Henry Blackburn, who was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, in the first half of the Buffaloes’ home victory over the Rams on Sept. 16.
Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter has not played in a game since and the reaction to his injury was immediate as fans began to send death threats to the Colorado State safety and leak the address of his mom online. Head coach Deion Sanders condemned it and Hunter himself even stated he was just playing football.
Weeks later and the two young men decided to meet up and let fans know they were cool with each other.
A beef between Blackburn and Hunter could have quickly formed, but Blackburn thinks due to the maturity of Hunter, it’s allowed them to move past it all.
“You know I never meant to hurt you,” Blackburn said. “I appreciate how you handled it too. A lot of people would be like ‘**** that kid’ and have hatred. You just handled it in a mature way.”
The Colorado State defensive back was never too worried about the threats to himself, but he was concerned about his family and his two younger sisters, being natives of Boulder.

“I can take it,” Blackburn said. “I’m not worried about me. I’m not tripping about me. I got two little sisters in elementary school. That’s mainly what I was worried about, their safety. I appreciate you coming out and saying ‘It’s football.’ Because that helped calm things down.”
The two of them not only sat down and talked to get to know each other but they would later go bowling, with the winner donating $2,000 to charity of his choice.
Hopefully, seeing the two get together and discuss the moment will put any negative discussions surrounding it to bed.
The following week, the Rams got their first win of the year with a victory over Middle Tennessee. Blackburn had two tackles on the night.
Colorado lost to the Oregon Ducks and is now getting ready to face the USC Trojans.
