Dylan Raiola, a five-star quarterback prospect and the No. 1 recruit for the 2024 class, is taking his talents down south.
On Monday, Raiola announced in a Twitter post that he is committing to the University of Georgia Bulldogs’ football program. Raiola will be joining a powerhouse program that has won back-to-back national championships.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Raiola attends Pinnacle High School in Phoenix, Arizona. Raiola had previously committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes’ football program but announced late last year that he was no longer planning to join the school.
This is a great development for the Bulldogs, who need a new quarterback after seeing previous starter Stetson Bennett declare for the 2023 NFL Draft. The Los Angeles Rams drafted the two-time national champion in the fourth round at No. 128 overall.
With Bennett making the move to the NFL, Carson Beck and Brock Vandagriff are expected to compete for the QB1 job ahead of the 2023 season.
Since his arrival in 2016, head coach Kirby Smart has turned the Bulldogs into a football juggernaut. He has gone 81-15-0 as the club’s head coach, winning five SEC Eastern Division titles to go along with the aforementioned back-to-back national titles in 2021 and 2022.
