Fans are going in on Todd McShay again after a heartwarming story about a top NFL Draft prospect recently came to light.
McShay is a respected draft analyst, yet his take on Georgia Bulldogs defensive tackle Jalen Carter was thought to be very unfair as he said the 21-year-old had “character issues,” also urging teams to stay away from the player.
“It’s interesting with Carter. We all agree, it doesn’t take a super scout to figure out that he’s a phenomenal player in the interior. With Carter, there’s some character issues: Does he get along with everybody? What’s he like to deal with in the locker room? Those sorts of issues,” McShay said back then.
“I know it’s early in the process, but I’m forewarning everyone out there — Carter’s going to be kind of a hot-button name when we talk about some of the intangible aspects of it.”
Well, it’s since been discovered that Carter paid for a teammate’s meals from his own scholarship money last season.

Wallace spoke to Carter’s good character in quotes cited by The Athletic.
“Jalen heard about that. I’m the only walk-on in the defensive line room and he goes, ‘I’m not gonna let that happen.’ So he used his scholarship money to pay for me to get lunch every single day,” the offensive lineman said.
“You honestly don’t know the guy if you think that. You can ask anybody on the team, whether it’s the O-line that he bullies every day out there … everybody thinks he’s an all-around great guy, and I think he’ll be great for any team that picks him.”
McShay isn’t a very popular man with fans right now.
Carter, meanwhile, has said that he wanted to help Wallace’s situation given that he enjoyed certain privileges his teammate had no access to.
“The blessings I have from being on a full ride, I just wanted to help, and that was taking care of a brother,” he said.
