Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos found himself flattened while trying to scramble for a first down against the United States Military Academy this Saturday, which is not unusual, except the perpetrator was a referee.
Typically, when you’re up against the refs, it’s because calls aren’t going your way. However, the Eagles had to deal with a slightly different challenge during the clash.
Boston ran an RPO on a second-and-nine in the second quarter, with Castellanos keeping the ball for a draw down the middle. He appeared to have plenty of space in front of him and was well on his way to getting the down as there was just one member of the opposition to beat. Unfortunately, the official wasn’t able to get out of the way in time.
Luckily for this particular ref, he’s built like a linebacker and Castellanos was the one who was worse for wear after they collided he appeared to run into a brick wall.
The QB was stopped just short of a first down and the Eagles were eventually able to get a fresh set.
