College football fans are showing support for Lane Kiffin following his father’s death.
The Ole Miss head coach is mourning his father, Monte Kiffin, a former college and NFL coach who passed away at the age of 84 this week.
The senior Kiffin coached for 58 years, winning two national championships as a defensive coordinator at Nebraska in the ‘70s and helping the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win their first Super Bowl as a DC in 2002.
He had been a player personnel analyst at Ole Miss for the last four years.
“Monte Kiffin, 84, peacefully passed away today in Oxford surrounded by family and friends,” the program said in a statement on Thursday. “As his grandson Knox said, he’s free of pain and smiling down on us from above. Please keep the Kiffin family in your thoughts and prayers during this time.”
