North Carolina WR Devontez Walker appeared to suffer a significant injury in the fourth quarter against Georgia Tech in Week 9.
Trailing in the fourth quarter against the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets, the North Carolina Tar Heels’ offense suffered a key injury that could alter their season as Walker was assisted off the field with less than three minutes remaining.
After hauling in a 36-yard catch from UNC quarterback Drake Maye, Walker was on the wrong end of a big hit by Yellow Jacket defensive back Ahmari Harvey, who forced a fumble.
He would then be transported to an Atlanta-area hospital, where he was evaluated after taking a blindside hit.
North Carolina coach Mack Brown said during his postgame that Walker was “aware and talking.”
ESPN has since reported he was released from the hospital. The Tar Heels released a statement Sunday morning saying Walker would travel home with the team.

“Tez is doing better, has been released from the hospital, and is flying back to Chapel Hill this morning,” the school said.
Walker had three catches for 76 yards before exiting Saturday’s game.
Walker transferred to North Carolina this season after spending the previous two years at Kent State. North Carolina’s loss was its second straight after a 6-0 start to the campaign.
