Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning has finally addressed the rumors of a potential transfer ahead of Monday’s Sugar Bowl.
Manning has spent most of his freshman year on the bench and, though he’s already earning millions, has hardly gotten a look in this season as Quinn Ewers is the starting QB while Maalik Murphy was second in the pecking order.
With Ewers likely to forego the NFL draft in favor of another year in Austin, there’s been plenty of talk over Arch possibly changing schools ahead of the 2024 season.
The Longhorns opted to make Manning available to reporters on Sugar Bowl media day this weekend, so they got an opportunity to quiz him on the speculation.
“I haven’t looked into transferring at all,” he said, per CBS Austin’s Bob Ballou. “I’m just focused on developing and helping this team in any way I can and hopefully one day playing for the University of Texas like I’ve already wanted to.”
Manning will be the second option when Texas plays Washington in the College Football Playoff semifinal on Monday. Murphy, meanwhile, has entered the transfer portal.
