Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers saw his dream of winning a national title with the Longhorns dashed on Friday night, with Ohio State coming out on top of their Cotton Bowl clash.
Ewers’ old OSU roommate, Jack Sawyer, made one of the most crucial plays of the night, running 83 yards for a scoop-and-score with Texas threatening to tie things up at 21 apiece in the red zone nearing the end of the fourth quarter.
The fumble cost the Longhorns the opportunity to even the scores, putting the Buckeyes up by a pair of touchdowns in the dying moments.
Ewers must have been sorely disappointed, but he appeared to be happy for his friend after the loss.
“Nah if I’m a Texas player and see this I’m pissed why tf is Quinn ewers laughing right after the game with jack sawyer ? I don’t care if they were roommates this is a nasty look,” an X user wrote as the caption to a video showing the QB laughing with Sawyer before giving him a congratulatory fist to the chest.

He didn’t get many people to agree with him, as most folks pointed out that football is just a game at the end of the day, and Ewers shouldn’t be slammed for being a good sport.
“At the end of it all, you still boys, and you are saying good play, Dogg, nice win,” a comment read. “And then you go into the locker room pissed, crying, etc. I’ve been on both ends of this situation.”

Quinn Ewers Opened Up On His Feelings After The Heartbreaking Loss
As you might imagine, Ewers was not happy when he spoke to reporters in the aftermath.
“It sucks, man,” he said. “It’s hard. All the work we put in, being in the final four back-to-back years and coming up short two years, it’s tough.”
Sawyer and Ohio State are now set for a final showdown against Notre Dame following the latter’s impressive win over Penn State in Thursday’s Orange Bowl.
