Texas A&M has beaten out interest from Alabama to land a commitment from a native five-star wide receiver prospect.
Cameron Coleman, the top WR in the 2024 class, announced his decision to play for the Aggies this week as he took to Twitter to announce as much on the 4th of July.
The wideout is ranked at No. 8 in the 2024 ESPN 300 and is also the sixth ESPN 300 player in Texas A&M’s recruiting cycle for 2024.
Coleman also visited Alabama, Auburn, and LSU before choosing the Aggies, telling ESPN he was keen on lining up in an offense keyed in on his skill set.
“I’d like to play in an offense where they’re using my skill set,” he told the network back in April. “I don’t really care what I do, as long as I do what’s best for the team. I feel like I’m good at taking coaching. Making big-time plays in big-time moments. Creating separation from my defender. High pointing the ball, blocking and just being a good teammate overall.”
The 98-rated 247Sports WR is the first five-star player to commit to Texas A&M since Ewan Stewart did so last year. The Aggies’ 2024 class now ranks 16th at ESPN. The program’s class was at No. 13 in ESPN’s ranking in 2022, having finished No. 1 overall the year prior.

Texas A&M struggled last season as they finished with a dismal 5-7 overall record and a 2-6 conference record. It will be interesting to see the type of impact Coleman can have on the offense.
