The field-goal posts have made it to the river, where they will likely spend the rest of the evening before someone cleans them up tomorrow morning.
Following No. 6 Tennessee’s victory over No. 3 Alabama on Saturday, Volunteers fans were seen ripping down the field-goal posts and marching them down the streets of Knoxville. It was a great way to celebrate their 52-49 win, after Chase McGrath kicked a 40-yard, game-winning field-goal with no time left on the clock.
Those goal posts eventually made it all the way to the river, where the Volunteers fans decided that they no longer wanted to do the heavy lifting. So they sent the posts for a nighttime swim in the water.
In case you couldn’t tell by the fans’ celebrations, the win was a huge one for Tennessee, who hasn’t beaten Alabama in 15 years.
With the victory, the Volunteers move to 6-0 on the season and 3-0 in SEC play. Up next is a tune-up game against Tennessee-Martin, before a pair of big-time contests against Kentucky and Georgia.
