Former Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa has taken the next step towards possibly playing another college football season with a new team.
Earlier, it was reported that the younger brother of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was looking to form a South Beach reunion with his bro by joining the University of Miami Hurricanes. However, there is one major obstacle that Taulia has to overcome, as he no longer has any more years of eligibility left — meaning he has to apply for a waiver from the NCAA.

Despite still being ineligible to play another season of college football in 2024, Taulia has taken the next step towards possibly joining “The U” by officially entering the transfer portal.
Despite this move from Taulia, he still has an uphill battle to climb if he wants to play for Miami next season. Tagovailoa has already played five seasons of college football, having used his extra season of eligibility that the NCAA granted as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The NCAA usually grants waivers to players for extra seasons of eligibility when they have valid reasons, but Taulia currently doesn’t have any known excuses that could help him get permission for a sixth seasons.
Regardless, Taulia is giving it his best shot. We’ll see if it works out for him in the end.
