Tate Martell just can’t seem to catch a break.
Way back in January, Tate Martell decided he was going to leave Ohio State after then-Georgia quarterback Justin Fields decided he was going to take his talents to the Buckeyes.
Fields, the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the 2018 class, was unable to beat out Jake Fromm for the starting quarterback job at Georgia. Martell decided to send a Tweet to Fields that said, “don’t swing and miss, especially not your second time”.
Seven months later and Tate’s words have come back to haunt him. On Monday, Miami announced that redshirt freshman Jarren Williams will start against Florida. Martell will begin his Hurricanes career on the bench.

Tate was reminded of that Tweet:
Martell is only a sophomore, so he has plenty of time to get the starting position, but it is surely not looking good for him and his career going forward.
Miami and Florida are set to kick off at 7 p.m. E.T. on Aug. 24. The game will be on ESPN.
