During the second half of the national title game, North Carolina star Armando Bacot went down in the final seconds of the game after he turned his ankle against Kansas. He was not able to come back to help his team as they went on to lose.
After the game was over, a few eagle-eyed observers showed off a slow-motion video of the floorboard in the stadium seemingly coming apart causing the injury.
The vice president of marketing strategy for Connor Sports, the company that manufactures the Final Four court, refuted those claims.
“The court’s absorption characteristics are by design, and there were no loose floorboards or panels within the court, as confirmed by an expert technician who was present at every game of the men’s Final Four to ensure the quality and safety of the floor,” Jeff Krejsa said, via ESPN.
After those comments were made, Bacot responded to Krejsa’s statement with the “thinking face” emoji.
After the game, Bacot was seen in a walking boot following his injury. Bacot finished the game with a double double of 15 points and 15 rebounds.
