Just days after the Clemson Tigers team traveled to Washington to meet with the President and have dinner in the White House that turned out to be fast food from McDonald’s, Wendy’s, and Burger King, the backlash continues as many continue to give their opinion on the matter.
The latest was ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith who had sharp words for President Trump on Wednesday. During Wednesday’s episode of ESPN’s “First Take,” Smith unloaded on Trump for not respecting the Clemson Tigers team enough for what he credited with a “shocking and stellar performance” against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
“I think it was classless on the part of the president of the United States,” Smith said. “I don’t give a damn about, they’re talking about White House employees are furloughed.”
“At the end of the day, these are elite athletes, that are national champions, that put forth an absolutely shocking and stellar performance, and this is how you greet them?” Smith continued. “It’s disgraceful, it was classless, it was wrong to do, he could do better than that.”
