Alabama is likely set to lose multiple players on the back of Nick Saban’s decision to retire following the culmination of the 2023 season.
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Crimson Tide wide receiver Isaiah Bond is entering the transfer portal.
While the portal is officially closed, players get 30 days to enter it if a coach leaves or is fired. Bond, who led the program in receptions during the season, has been the first to drop his name.
Saban held a meeting with players earlier this week to let them know he would be walking away from the game after 17 years in charge at Alabama, and athletic director Greg Byrne is said to have asked him for 72 hours so he could bring in a new head coach before athletes opted to enter the portal.
Bond’s decision doesn’t necessarily mean he will be leaving Alabama. However, he is taking the opportunity to explore his options.
Unfortunately for the Tide, it’s now open season on all of their players as other schools will be making offers without Saban around as insulation.
