Back in December, there was an online petition calling on the National Football League to pay tribute to late “Spongebob Squarepants” creator Stephen Hillenburg at Super Bowl LIII by requesting they play “Sweet Victory” during the halftime show “as a tribute to (Hillenburg’s) legacy, his contributions to a generation of children, and to truly showcase the greatness of this song.”
It seems as if the fans who signed that petition will indeed get their wish, because Maroon 5, who are the primary performer for Super Bowl 53, took to Twitter and posted a video that hinted of Spongebob making an appearance during their show.
On to of that, there was also a report that Squidward’s voice actor being a part of the show as well.
